They may be good, but they’re no Ray Price

Congratulations to Carrie Underwood and all the other winners at Sunday night’s Academy of Country Music Awards show in Las Vegas.  With all due respect, my taste in country is a little older — in the case of this song, almost a decade before the ACM was even born.

This is one of my favorite artists, Ray Price, singing one of my favorites of his, Invitation to the Blues.  And the harmony singer is no slouch himself.  Roger Miller, then a member of Price’s great Cherokee Cowboys band, also wrote the song. Both are in the Country Music Hall of Fame, and Price is still going strong in his 80s.

Hope you enjoy.
